Last weekend, Her Network, a platform created to connect, inspire and encourage women to help one another grow, hosted an exclusive event called ‘Chats & Cocktails’ for women in different career sectors in Lagos, Nigeria.
‘Chats & Cocktails’ was created to
give women the opportunity to meet up, connect over cocktails and expand
their personal and professional networks. Its essence is to show that
women can come together, have real meaningful conversations, promote
their businesses, sell their brands and build relationships with other
women in an unconventional setting. The theme of this event – Real Talk.
Real Network aimed at highlighting real accomplishments, struggles,
encounters and business models that would motivate and inspire the next
woman.
Nkem Onwudiwe, convener
of the event and creator of Her Network said “It is important that we
attend conferences and be inspired by the speakers and panelists but it
is also important that we come together from time to time, to connect
and have real conversations with each other in a more relaxed
environment…Women need to realise that regardless of your social status
or achievements, CEO or Fresh Graduate, you have a gift that can be of
benefit to the woman next to you, be real, be supportive and most of
all, be confident in yourself because only then will you be able to
support another woman without feeling insecure about your unique
capabilities.”. She concluded.
Several activities during the event
which included group selfie icebreakers, speed networking, seat swap,
real talk and musical chairs ensured active engagement between the women
in attendance. Some women walked away with freebies like Hairfinity
products, gorgeous bags courtesy of Miss Lax and bundles of weaves
